California State Auto Insurance

California State auto insurance laws require that anyone that operates a motor vehicle must carry at least a minimum amount of insurance.  The minimum amount of coverage allowed by law in the state of California is known as a 15/30/5 plan which equates to $15,000 liability coverage for the death or injury of any one person, $30,000 liability coverage for multiple persons and $5000 in liability coverage for property damage.

15/30/5 plan is the absolute minimum allowed by law and you may wish to carry additional coverage to avoid any financial responsibility if you are at fault accident.  It's also a good idea to have a more comprehensive plan if you wish to have your own medical expenses and property damage coverage if you are at fault in an accident because they liability plan only covers damage or injuries to other parties if you're at fault.
